What a front door actually costs in Ireland in 2026
Not a price range with a shrug attached. The base price, what each option adds, what delivery costs, and what the grant takes back off the top.
Most door companies will not put a number on a website. You get "prices from" with no ceiling, or a form to fill in before anyone will talk to you. Here is the actual structure.
The base
From €2,500 fitted. That is a complete external door with the frame, delivered and installed, with the old door taken away. No glazing in the leaf, no sidelights.
If you do not want installation, deduct roughly €800 to €1,000. In practice almost nobody chooses this now, because the SEAI grant requires a registered installer — doing it yourself forfeits €800.

A note on the one-way mirror: it is charged per element, so a door plus one sidelight is €200, not €100.
Two worked examples
A plain door, glazed, black hardware. Base €2,500 plus glazing €250 plus black frame and handle €100 — €2,850 fitted.
A full entrance. Base €2,500, glazing €250, inlays both sides €150, black hardware €100, long pull €200, two sidelights €1,200, toplight €400 — €4,800.
That is the real spread: roughly €2,500 at the bottom and €5,000 to €5,500 for a wide glazed entrance.
Delivery
Included within 100 km of our base in Co. Mayo. Beyond that:
- 100 to 150 km — €70
- over 150 km — €120
- Northern Ireland — €200
Dublin sits in the €120 band. On a €4,000 door that is three percent, but it should be in the quote rather than appearing later.
What the grant takes back
€800 per external door, up to two doors per home, if the property was built before 2011 and the insulation meets the threshold. On a €2,850 door that brings the real cost to €2,050.
The grant is claimed after the works and paid into your account four to eight weeks later, so you pay the full amount up front and get it back. It is a rebate, not a discount at the till — worth knowing before you plan the cash.
How long
Ten to twelve weeks from order to installation. The fit itself takes a day or two.
That is longer than a lot of people expect, and it is the single most common surprise. Doors are made to your opening, not pulled from a warehouse. If you are working to a date — a move, a wedding, someone arriving — count backwards from it.
What is not in the price
Measuring is free. We do it over a WhatsApp video call, which takes about fifteen minutes and saves everybody a trip. If you would rather someone came out in person, we can, charged at the same travel rates above.
Ventilation is the one to watch. A new airtight door in a house that was previously draughty changes how the building breathes. Worth a conversation before rather than a damp patch after.
